The 43rd Physics Week begins on Monday (September 21st) at the Institute of Physics of the Federal University of Goiás (IF UFG), with a program that combines institutional moments, integration activities, research, academic training, and scientific dissemination. Activities begin at 8:00 am with the registration of participants, which will continue until Friday (September 25th) at noon, followed by the welcome and integration of the academic community before the official start of the event. The complete program of the 43rd Physics Week ishere.

At 9:00 am, the official opening ceremony will take place, with the participation of authorities, guests, the organizing committee, and the academic community. Together, the Sponsor Space will be presented, intended for the promotion of institutions and companies that support the organization of the Physics Week. Subsequently, the Spontaneous Manifestation Wall and the Privilege Wheel will be launched, spaces designed to stimulate participation, reflection, and dialogue during the event. Afterwards, there will be a break to prepare the audience for the opening lecture.

At 11:00 AM, Professor Alfo José Batista Leyva from the University of Havana will deliver the international opening lecture with the topics “Numerical Modeling and Artificial Intelligence for Vision Enhancement” and “Complex Dynamical Systems in Spatiotemporal Contexts”. The presentation will discuss numerical modeling, artificial intelligence, vision science, biomedical applications, and complex dynamical systems, including research related to the use of neural networks and computational models in different scientific contexts.

Since 1984

The Physics Week of the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), organized by the Institute of Physics (IF UFG), is a traditional academic event held continuously since 1984, solidifying its position as one of the main initiatives in the field in the Central-West region of Brazil. Throughout its history, the Physics Week has played a significant role in academic and scientific training, bringing together students, faculty, researchers, and guests from various institutions in an environment of dialogue, exchange of experiences, and dissemination of knowledge.

With a diverse program, the event includes activities such as lectures, roundtables, scientific presentation sessions, mini-courses, workshops, and outreach activities, promoting integration between undergraduate, graduate, and research programs. This structure encourages active student participation and direct contact with researchers and professionals working in different areas of Physics, contributing to the strengthening of scientific education and the development of academic and professional skills.

The Physics Week also stands out for its integrative and formative character, encouraging scientific initiation, continuation in postgraduate studies, and qualified insertion in the job market. By bringing together universities, research centers, and, when possible, the productive sector, the event expands collaboration possibilities and contributes to scientific and technological development at the regional and national levels.

Furthermore, the event reaffirms its commitment to the valorization of science, public education, and academic production, promoting reflections on contemporary and relevant issues for society. The Physics Week also incorporates initiatives aimed at promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in its program, contributing to the creation of a more plural, accessible, and representative academic environment.

In this way, the Physics Week at UFG consolidates itself as a strategic space for training, integration, and scientific dissemination, significantly contributing to the strengthening of the academic community and the dissemination of scientific knowledge to society.

Among the participating entities are the Physical Engineering Student League (LEF); the Medical Physics Student League (Lafismed); the Unified Academic Sports Association of the Hamilton Institute of Physics (A.A.A.U.I.F. Hamiltoniana); the junior company Gheeck Junior Física Aplicada; the Science Courtyard/Museum of Science; the Ideas, Prototyping and Entrepreneurship Laboratory (Ipelab); the Cine Quantum extension project; the G.U.I.L.D.A. Physics and RPG project; the Nikola Tesla Academic Directory; and the Optica Student Chapter UFG extension project.

The Institute of Physics at the Federal University of Goiás (IF UFG) is organizing the XLIII Physics Week and has the support of the Fundação de Apoio à Pesquisa (Funape), the Centro de Excelência em Estudos, Monitoramento e Previsões Ambientais do Cerrado (Cempa Cerrado UFG), and the Associação dos Docentes das Universidades Federais de Goiás (Adufg Sindicato). Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Goiás (Fapeg) and Thorlabs.
