Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov described on Saturday, January 26th, the United States' attack on Venezuela on January 3rd and the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro as one of the recent actions that undermine international law, global peace, and security, demanding Maduro's immediate return to the country.

The Russian representative took the opportunity to reaffirm Moscow's support for the causes of ending the economic blockade against Cuba, halting the genocide perpetrated by Israeli forces in Palestine, and resolving the situation caused by the joint US-Israel attacks on Iran.

The minister led the Russian delegation at the plenary session of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, articulatingA critical stance on the international order. On the role of multilateral organizations and Western military expansionist ambitions.

In his speech, Lavrov denounced historical revisionism and criticized the German government. He reminded the ratification of post-World War II documents by the former Axis powers and accused European powers of downplaying the manifestations of neo-Nazi ideology in the Kiev regime and forgetting the genocide against the Soviet people.

He directly challenged the German Chancellor.Friedrich Merz, after his statements on making Germany once again the primary military power in Europe, said, "A new process of re-militarization in Berlin would have serious historical consequences," Lavrov warned, highlighting the dangerous implications of such a move.

Lavrov also condemned the legal prohibition of the Russian language in Ukraine and denounced the European Union's silence regarding what he called a blatant violation of freedom of expression, religion, and fundamental freedoms protected by the UN Charter. "This policy of linguistic and cultural repression is unacceptable and should be condemned by the international community," he stated.

He warned in this regard about the alarming trend of the West to impose its worldview through the disproportionate and illegitimate use of force. Lavrov recalled the numerous incidents of this type in recent times and the double standard applied to Washington's actions compared to Moscow's.

The Russian foreign minister warned of the contradiction in how the international community reacts to Washington's and Moscow's actions. He said that attempts to incite Russophobia open the doors to fascist and supremacist practices that led to a global confrontation, which cannot be ignored any longer.

Lavrov reaffirmed that the struggle to protect the population of Donbas and Novorossiya will continue until the threats to Russia's national security are eradicated and peace is restored in an une negotiable manner. "Our mission is clear: to protect our citizens and ensure peace and stability in the region," he declared.

Lavrov also defended the multilateral project under the BRICS umbrella and the cooperation initiatives promoted by this emerging platform, highlighting that the UN has been a space to serve the interests of Western blocs. "The UN should be a platform for dialogue and cooperation, not a tool of foreign policy for certain countries," he emphasized.

He rejected the attribution of permanent seats on the UN Security Council to powers like Germany or Japan, due to their militarist tendencies. And he explicitly supported the admission of Brazil and India, as well as the implementation of the Ezulwini Consensus and the Sirte Declaration, to increase the representation of the African continent, Asia, and Latin America in the Security Council.

Lavrov emphasized the importance of the International Day against Colonialism and announced that Russia will host the World Assembly of the International Inter-Party Movement for Nations' Freedom. "Colonialism is an open wound in humanity's history, and it is our duty to work for the freedom and self-determination of all peoples," he declared.

"Multipolarity is the future, and we must work together to build a more just and balanced world," Lavrov concluded.
