At least 10 higher education institutions have reported receiving intimidating and violent messages targeting students and public property.

The Ministry of Education (MEC) has requested that the Federal Police (PF) investigate the threats that have been directed against federal universities, students, and faculty, as reported in the last few days. The General Attorney's Office of the Union (AGU) has also been contacted to take appropriate legal action.
In the letters sent to the two institutions, the MEC requests that the competent bodies take action in the face of the seriousness of the threats of violence and the destruction of property, as well as the use of Nazi symbols against federal universities, students, and faculty, as reported to the MEC, especially this week.
The cases of threats were recorded at the campuses of the Federal University of the Fluminense (UFF), the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), the University of Brasília (UnB), the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL), the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP), the Federal University of Jataí (UFJ), the Federal University of the Semi-Árido (UFERSA), the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), and the Federal University of Southern Bahia (UFSB).
In the documents sent, the MEC emphasizes that the actions of the PF and the AGU are urgent "to investigate the authorship, the material facts, and the circumstances of the threats and acts of violence directed at federal universities."
"The sensitive context of the electoral period amplifies the seriousness of these acts, making it imperative to safeguard the physical integrity of the academic community and public property. These threats and violence seek to intimidate democratic debate, disrupt public order, and compromise the free exercise of the constitutional functions of higher education institutions," says excerpt from the letters sent.
