Vladimir Putin sent greetings to current and former road industry workers on Road Workers’ Day.
The message reads, in part:
“The road industry plays a distinctive role in the life of our vast country and in strengthening its economic potential. Access to medical care and education, to cultural and sporting facilities, the expansion of social services and the creation of new jobs – today there is hardly a sphere of life that does not rely on a modern, safe road network. That is why behind every repaired kilometre of road, every new highway or bridge, there is more than figures and technical specifications. In the end, all of this means real, tangible opportunities to improve the quality of life of our citizens.
Today, the industry is tackling large-scale and ambitious tasks. An unprecedented road construction programme is underway as part of the national projects. The construction of modern highways, bridges, and interchanges continues, and the road network is being modernised in cities and, most importantly, in rural settlements. And, of course, particular priority is given to our historical regions – Donbass and Novorossiya.
I am convinced that Russian road builders will continue to bring the most complex engineering initiatives to fruition, to introduce advanced domestic technologies and materials, and to demonstrate a high level of professionalism in strengthening the transport framework of Russia.”
