On the State Day of Young Advocacy in Ceará, celebrated on Wednesday (September 23rd), the Ceará State Court of Justice (TJCE) received a visit from 35 members of the Young Advocacy Council of the Brazilian Bar Association – Ceará Section (OAB/CE). The program provided the group with contact with the structure and routine of the state judiciary, as well as bringing the institutions closer together and strengthening dialogue between the judiciary and the legal profession.
The visit began with a session of the 2nd Chamber of Private Law. The young lawyers observed the dynamics of a session, including oral arguments and debates by the judges. They then toured the new plenary of the TJCE. The program concluded at the Tribunal's Memorial, a space dedicated to preserving the history of the Ceará judiciary.
The president of the TJCE, Justice Heráclito Vieira de Sousa Neto, highlighted the importance of bringing together professionals with different stages of experience in their careers. "This interaction, this dialogue, this exchange of experiences is fundamental. Young lawyers will face many challenges in their careers, and by observing a session, oral arguments, and debates, they gain an experience that will be important when they need to practice at the appellate level. For us, as an institution, it is also important to be in contact with the legal profession, the Public Prosecutor's Office, and the Public Defender's Office," he said.
Justice Everardo Lucena Segundo, who accompanied the visit during the session of the 2nd Chamber of Private Law, highlighted the importance of bringing together professionals at the beginning of their careers with the functioning of the judicial power. "This interaction is fundamental so that the dialogue is permanent from the beginning of careers. These young lawyers, who may in the future assume representation and management functions in the legal profession, need to build this knowledge and this connection with the judicial power throughout their journey, from youth to professional maturity. Knowing how the judiciary works, its competencies, and its dynamics is very important for training and for building a constant dialogue between institutions," he pointed out.
New paths
For Raul Farias, a member of the OAB Jovem, the moment contributes to bringing young lawyers closer to the Presidency of the Tribunal and the other members of the institution. "The importance of this visit is precisely to strengthen the bond between the young lawyer and his prerogatives with the Presidency of the Tribunal and its members. This meeting strengthens the partnership between the Judiciary and the Ceará Bar Association, bringing benefits to new lawyers who will begin their career with activity in the Court of Justice," he said.
The visit also marked a significant date for the category. The State Day of Young Advocacy was established in Ceará as an opportunity to value professionals who are in their first years of practice. The president of the Young Council of the OAB/CE, Eric Freire, highlighted the symbolic nature of the event.
"Today is the State Day of Young Advocacy in the State of Ceará, and this visit is very symbolic, because it strengthens ties with judicial institutions and brings young lawyers closer. It is an important moment to get to know the structure of the Court and understand how a trial session works," he emphasized.
Experience
The opportunity to get to know the functioning of the Court was also highlighted by Levi Araújo. For him, the experience can contribute to the professional practice of new lawyers. "The most important thing, besides strengthening ties, is for the young lawyer to understand how the system of the Court of Justice of the State of Ceará actually works. This facilitates an eventual oral defense and contributes to the state justice system," he said.
