The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), stated that institutional strengthening occurs through dialogue, respect for the competencies of each branch, and the pursuit of convergences.

"Nothing is more important than to remember that strong institutions do not arise fortuitously. They are built through dialogue, respect for the competencies of each branch, and the willingness to seek convergences, especially when the debate is difficult," he said.

The statements were made on the evening of this Tuesday (20), in Brasília, during the opening of the 29th International Congress on Constitutional Law of the Brazilian Institute for Teaching, Development and Research (IDP).

Motta emphasized that "a Constitution remains alive when it keeps pace with the country's changes through democratic debate." "The Chamber of Deputies has helped build this path by focusing on issues of great impact on the lives of Brazilians," he declared.

The Chamber President highlighted the Parliament's role in discussing topics related to economic development, social protection, and public security. He stated that the Chamber has been seeking solutions to these issues, even amidst the electoral calendar.

The legislator highlighted the approval of the legal framework for combating organized crime, known as the Raul Jungmann Law, and discussions on artificial intelligence, data sovereignty, fundamental rights in the digital society, and tax reform.

Scale 6x1
The President of the Chamber cited the proposal to reduce working hours and end the 6x1 shift system. According to him, the drafting of the text involved listening to over 3,000 people, including workers, experts, civil society representatives, and the productive sector.

"The amendment will benefit millions of Brazilians, men and women who wake up before dawn, traverse entire cities, and dedicate much of their days to work. Because reconciling family, health, study, and everything else that life demands does not fit into just one day of rest," he argued.

Economy
Motta also mentioned the approval of the update to the revenue ceiling for individual microentrepreneurs (MEIs) and the forgiveness of debts for nearly 3 million microentrepreneurs.

"The two measures represent economic justice. It means recognizing the reality of MEIs, offering better conditions for business growth, and expanding opportunities for job creation and income generation," he said.

Mercosur-European Union Agreement

Another highlight of Motta was the approval of the provisional trade agreement between theMercosurAnd the European Union, after decades of negotiation.

He also mentioned the regulation of the critical minerals policy, the Digital Statute of Children and Adolescents (ECA Digital), and Redata, aimed at attracting investments in data centers, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence.

Regarding the regulation of artificial intelligence, he stated that the topic is still under discussion in a special committee of the Chamber and will be taken up again as a priority after the electoral period.

Elections
Hugo Motta also referred to the second round of the elections, which will take place next Sunday, November 25. "For us Brazilians, it is a happiness regardless of the result: defending the democratic state of law is an obligation for all of us," he stated.
