Audio: Law pardoning MEI debts signed into law

The Complementary Law 238 was sanctioned on Wednesday, October 21st.It expands the annual turnover limit for individual microentrepreneurs (MEIs), provides for the forgiveness of debts with the Union, and allows for the hiring of up to two employees. The current turnover ceiling of R$ 81,000 per year will increase to R$ 110,000 in 2027 and R$ 140,000 in 2028.

The norm provides for the forgiveness of debts with the Union incurred up to October 13th, 2026, including interest and penalties related to MEI contributions.
