The Judicial Police, through the Criminal Investigation Department of Leiria, carried out a search warrant and arrested a suspect in Ferreira do Zêzere, who is strongly suspected of being involved in the crime of child pornography, after finding him in possession of more than seven thousand files containing images and videos of child sexual abuse.
The investigation began in November 2025, following the detection on the Internet of the sharing of files containing images and videos of child sexual abuse.
The investigative activities carried out over the past months have allowed the identification and location of the suspect, who is accused of sharing those contents.
Following the search of his residence, several computer devices were found and seized, including computers, hard drives, and mobile phones.
Preliminary analysis of the devices has allowed the identification of more than seven thousand files containing images and videos of child sexual abuse, some of which are very young, and this number may increase with further forensic analysis of the seized equipment.
The man, aged 42, lived with a partner and two stepchildren, one of whom was a minor. He was serving a prison sentence, with the execution suspended, specifically for the commission of identical crimes in 2022.
Having already been present at the first judicial interrogation at the Santarém Court, he was ordered to comply with pre-trial detention.
The investigation continues with the aim of fully clarifying the facts.
