The deadline for completing students from public schools who have been registered by the MEC to take the Foreign Language exam is Sunday (18).

Participants automatically enrolled inNational High School Exam (Enem) 2026have until Sunday, October 18, to choose the language (English or Spanish) for the Foreign Language test. If the choice is not made within the deadline, English will be automatically assigned by the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep), without the possibility of modification. The tests will be administered throughout Brazil on November 8 and 15.
Automatic enrollment is one of the new features of Enem 2026 and includes students completing secondary education in public schools. The procedure was carried out based on the data sent by the educational networks to the Ministry of Education (MEC), in accordance with the guidelines of the Call for Proposals No. 64, of May 21, 2026. To ensure that participants enrolled automatically have access to the test location, it is necessary to complete the socio-economic questionnaire available on theregistration website .
In this edition, the Ministry of Education, through the Anísio Teixeira National Institute of Educational Studies and Research, registered over 5 million registrations. For the first time, in addition to promoting access to higher education, the Enem will also aim to assess the competencies and skills expected at the end of secondary education, integrating theBasic Education Assessment System (Saeb)into its evaluation.
Tests –On both days, the gates will open at 12:00 (Brasília time) and close at 13:00, with the tests starting at 13:30. On the first day, the exams for Languages, Codes and their Technologies, Writing and Human Sciences and their Technologies will be administered, with students having 5.5 hours to complete them. On the second day, students will have 5 hours to complete the tests for Natural Sciences and their Technologies and Mathematics and their Technologies.
The Foreign Language test consists of five multiple-choice questions, focusing on the interpretation and comprehension of texts. One way to enhance exam preparation is to use support tools, such as theMEC Idiomas app.Through it, the student can acquire and improve their knowledge and vocabulary of the foreign languages that make up the test. The tool offers free English and Spanish lessons and is available on digital stores, such as Google Play and Apple Store.
Enem Guide –On the ministry's portal, the MEC launched afront pagewith information and content, in order to support Enem participants at all stages, from requesting exemption from the registration fee to checking results and accessing higher education. Through videos, tutorials, news, tips and answers to frequently asked questions, the space contains official information to help participants understand the stages of preparation for the exams. With the content organized in one place, students can better understand how the Enem works, clarify doubts and access materials that contribute to their study routine.
Enem– The National High School Exam was established in 1998 with the aim of evaluating the academic performance of students at the end of basic education. In 2009, the exam also became a way to access higher education, and since 2025, it has resumed certifying the completion of high school for participants over 18 years old.
Enem scores can be used to access higher education through programs such asUnified Selection System (Sisu)theUniversity for All Program (Prouni)andStudent Financing Fund (Fies), in addition to being accepted in own selection processes of public and private institutions and by Portuguese higher education institutions that have a cooperation agreement with the Inep. The results also subsidize the production of educational studies and indicators.
