The Labor Court of Rio Grande do Sul delivered,on this Friday (10/22), 1,483 restored photographs to families affected by the 2023 flood in the Taquari Valley. The ceremony took place at the Labor Court of Encantado, with the presence of Judge Maria Madalena Telesca, and benefited residents of Encantado, Roca Sales, Lajeado, and Arroio do Meio. Many of the recovered images are the only visual memories of deceased people or homes completely destroyed by the force of the water.
Led by the Expertise Division of the Court, the initiative transformed over two thousand images damaged by mud into affected sentimental records returned to their owners in physical and digital formats. The technical work combined physical recovery steps, such as distilled water cleaning and ultraviolet sterilization, with high-resolution digitization, artificial intelligence reconstruction, and rigorous human review.
For the Division chief, Marcelo Lucca, the effort represented an attempt to return "memories of a whole life" that were entrusted to the court. The project was carried out complementarily, without prejudicing the progress of regular judicial proceedings, also serving as a practical training experience for the TRT-RS server team.
