Equatorial Margin
The equatorial margin is located between the states of Amapá and Rio Grande do Norte, being the newest Brazilian exploratory frontier in deep and ultra-deep waters.
Petrobras has drilled over 700 wells in the equatorial margin. "Due to the oil's characteristics and the estimated volumes, the Equatorial Margin arouses interest not only from the Brazilian industry but also from the international oil and gas market, which envisions promising possibilities in the region," the state-owned company highlights.
Third-quarter results
On Wednesday, October 28, Petrobras announced that the average oil, liquid natural gas (LNG), and natural gas production in the third quarter of 2026 reached a record mark of 3.512 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (MMboed), 11.7% above the same quarter last year and 5.3% above the second quarter result of the same year.
The record is mainly due to the highest production efficiency in eight years from the P-78 and P-79 floating production vessels in the Búzios field, as well as the peak production from the Alexandre de Gusmão floating production vessel in the Mero field, and lower volumes of losses from maintenance stoppages.
During the quarter, 12 new producing wells came online, with six in the Campos Basin and six in the Santos Basin."The excellent operational results for the third quarter, announced on Wednesday, are another example of the quality of our deliveries," emphasized the Petrobras President.
