The Judicial Police, through the Northern Directorate, carried out an operation yesterday, during which three young people were arrested, on strong evidence of involvement in a qualified homicide crime, attempted, that occurred in the Miragaia area in August 2025.
The operation targeted a group of 10 young people, some with prior criminal records for theft, drug trafficking, and offenses against physical integrity.
The investigation originated from a public altercation, following the group, including those now arrested, being reprimanded by residents of the area due to the noise they were making. Dissatisfied with the reprimand, the group ended up attacking one of the residents violently, using punches, kicks, and a bladed weapon, resulting in serious injuries, requiring urgent medical assistance due to the risk of death.
The operation complied with a dozen search warrants and a detention warrant issued by the DIAP of Porto. Two suspects, in flagrante delito, were also arrested for the crimes of possession of an illegal weapon and drug trafficking, and they are also accused of participating in the aforementioned assaults.
The three arrested, two aged 17 and one aged 18, will be presented to the competent judicial authority for the first judicial interrogation and the application of the coercive measures deemed appropriate.
